University of Embu Joins National Tree-Growing Initiative
The University of Embu on Thursday, 8th October 2026, joined the Government’s tree-growing initiative through a tree-planting exercise aimed at promoting environmental conservation, sustainability and climate action.
The exercise was officially flagged off by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Research & Extension, Prof. Paul Nthakanio, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Mugendi. Staff and students actively participated in the exercise, planting more than 8,000 tree seedlings across designated areas of the University.
The initiative underscores the University’s commitment to supporting the Government’s efforts to increase Kenya’s tree cover, mitigate the effects of climate change and foster a greener and more sustainable environment for present and future generations.
