University of Embu Hosts Over 465 Secondary School Students for Academic Mentorship and Career Guidance

The University of Embu hosted more than 465 secondary school students for an Academic Mentorship and Career Guidance Programme on Friday, 11th September 2026. The programme provided the students with valuable insights into making informed academic and career choices as they prepare for their transition to higher education and the world of work.

During the mentorship sessions, the students were guided on programme selection criteria, KUCCPS requirements, emerging job market demands, career planning, and personal growth and development skills. The sessions were facilitated by experts from the Admissions Office, TVET Institute, School of Nursing, School of Education and Social Sciences, School of Engineering, and School of Business and Economics.

The students also engaged with University student leaders and representatives from the School of Law, giving them an opportunity to learn from their peers and gain a broader understanding of university life, academic programmes and career opportunities.

In the afternoon, the students toured key University facilities and learning environments, including the Prof. George Magoha Library, School of Law Moot Court and the University Farm, where they gained practical insights into the University’s academic, research and co-curricular activities.

The visiting students were drawn from Ntharene Senior School, Meru; St. Michael Senior School, Embu; St. Mary Goretti Girls, Kirinyaga; Masinga Boys High School, Machakos; and Magumoni Day Secondary School, Chuka.
