
Alternative Justice System Conference
The University of Embu is currently hosting the Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) Conference from Tuesday, 16th to Friday, 19th June 2026, bringing together key stakeholders in the justice sector, academia, government, and community leadership to deliberate on the role of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in promoting access to justice and social cohesion.
The conference was officially graced by the Guest of Honour, H.E. Hon. Cecily Mbarire, Governor of Embu County, who was accompanied by H.E. Hon. Patrick Ole Ntutu, Governor of Narok County. The two Governors were received at the University by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Mugendi, the Chairperson of the University Council, Prof. Philip Kutima, members of the University Council, and members of the University Management Board.
The conference provides a platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing on the integration of Alternative Justice Systems into the broader justice framework, with a focus on enhancing inclusivity, conflict resolution, and sustainable community development. The discussions are expected to generate valuable insights and recommendations that will contribute to strengthening access to justice at both county and national levels.
