
In the spirit of Corporate Social Investment, the University of Embu on 15th January, 2026 donated 25 computers to Gikurune Boys Senior School in Meru County. This is part of the University’s commitment to supporting education and digital literacy a crucial 21st -century skills, embedded in the Competency Based Education.
The University delegation was led by Dr. Benson Atitwa, Chairman, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, representing the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Daniel Mugendi. He was accompanied by Dr. Faith Mueni, Chairperson, Computing and Information Technology, and Dr. Florence Kaumi from the School of Agriculture and a Board Member at Gikurune Boys Senior School.
This donation is a follow-up to the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to adopt and mentor the school to improve its performance, made on Friday, 14th March 2025, when he was invited as the Guest Speaker during the School Education Day.
The impact of mentorship is already evident: In 2024 KCSE: the Mean score was 5.6176 (C Plain) with 6 B+, 2 B, 10 B-, and 25 C+.
In 2025 KCSE: the Mean score is 5.7791, a positive deviation positive deviation of +0.1615, with 4 A-, 3 B+, 11 B, 24 B-, and 32 C+.
