The University of Embu and the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) signed a partnership agreement that will see the two institutions collaborate to enhance teacher education in Kenya.
The signing ceremony was held at the University of Embu on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, witnessed by the Deputy Director, Higher Education, Dr. Charles Obiero, who was representing the Principal Secretary, State Department for Higher Education and Research, CEO, Commission for University Education, Prof. Mike Kuria, ESTDEV’s Advisor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Mrs. Kristel Rillo, a professor of Teacher Education at Tallinn University, Prof. Katrin Poom-Valickis, and the representatives of Education Deans Forum drawn from Meru University of Science and Technology, Murang’a University of Technology, Egerton University, Karatina University, Mount Kenya University, Koitaleel Samoei University College, Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and the University of Embu.
The partnership dubbed ‘Strengthening Teacher Education in Kenya’ will be spearheaded by the University of Embu Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Mugendi Njiru, and ESTDEV, Regional Head for Africa, Mrs. Katrin Winter.
