The University of Embu has been named the 2024/2025 Overall Winner in Quality Service Provision – Large Enterprises Category at the East Africa Community (EAC) Regional Quality Awards 2024 held on Thursday 5th December 2024 in Kampala, Uganda.
The Awards for excellence in quality service and product delivery, brought together nominees from national competitions across the EAC member states: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The University of Embu was nominated for the 2024 EAC Regional Quality Award after winning the Overall Winner in Quality Service Provision award in the Large Firm Category at the Kenya Quality Awards on 12th November 2024 organised by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). Other competitors in the Large Enterprises Category were Prime Insurance (Rwanda) and Raphael Logistics (T) Limited (Tanzania).
The Regional Award Ceremony was organised by the EAC Secretariat, the International Trade Centre (ITC) and hosted by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) through the second phase of the European Union (EU) – EAC Market Access Upgrade Programme (MARKUP II) and funded by the European Union.
In his acceptance speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Mugendi, described the Award as a significant milestone in the University of Embu’s pursuit of excellence and commitment to quality service delivery.
He commended the University community for their dedication and hard work, stating, “This award highlights our steadfast commitment to excellence in service delivery and our determination to set benchmarks that inspire regional and global competitiveness.”
