University of Embu partners with CIArb

University of Embu partners with The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) to establish a Regional Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution.

On Tuesday, 28th October 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Embu, Prof. Daniel Mugendi, hosted the UoEm Chancellor, Prof. Paul Musili Wambua, and a high-powered delegation from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), led by Chairman, Prof. Kenneth Wyne Mutuma, Vice-Chairman, Mr. David Njoroge and CEO, Ms. Evelyn Kimani. The delegation was at the University for a roundtable meeting to discuss modalities of setting up the proposed Regional Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at the University.

The Centre, which will be the only one of its kind in Kenya, outside Nairobi, will be the main hub for promoting fair and effective determination of disputes by Arbitration and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution in the region and beyond through training, research, capacity building and networking with alternative dispute practitioners worldwide.

The meeting, which was also attended by The Presiding Judge of Embu High Court Hon. Justice Richard Mwongo, Director CIArb, Mr. Nyagah Kithinji, Organizing Secretary for the Youth Arbitrator Society (YSA), Ms. Akoth Aluoch, and Mr. Teddy Kegonde, marked a significant step in the process of establishing the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Hub at the University of Embu.
