Public Lecture by Hon. Justice (Prof.) Joel M. Ngugi

The University of Embu hosted a Public Lecture by Hon. Justice (Prof.) Joel M. Ngugi LL.M, SJD, MBS on Thursday, 26th February, 2026. Hon. Justice (Prof.) Joel Ngugi is an eminent Judge, Court of Appeal, Nairobi and Chair, National Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) Policy (NaSCI-AJS). The Public Lecture focussed alternative Justice Systems, a subject of great significance in strengthening access to justice and enhancing community-based conflict resolution mechanisms.

The topic for the Lecture was “Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) and Access to Justice Under Kenya`s Transformative Constitution.” The lecture brought together leading stakeholders in the justice sector, including members of the Judiciary, legal practitioners, administrators, community and religious leaders, scholars, and students.
