UoEm Head of ICT Honoured at Africa Regional ICT Awards

The University of Embu is celebrating a remarkable achievement following the recognition of Mr. Maurice Murimi, the University’s Head of ICT, at the Africa Regional CIO100 Awards. Mr. Murimi was awarded the prestigious Ivory Mark of Excellence during the CIO100 Symposium & Awards held at Enashipai Resort & Spa in Naivasha, Kenya, from 19^th to 21^st November 2025.

The Africa Regional CIO100 Awards, which recognizes the Top 100 Chief Information Officers (CIOs), is a globally respected platform that celebrates organisations and ICT leaders who demonstrate outstanding leadership in digital innovation and transformation. This year’s awards attracted a record 1,200 submissions from Mauritius, East, West, and South Africa, out of which only 100 nominees were shortlisted. Within this distinguished group, the Ivory Mark of Excellence stands out as a premium and highly selective honour, reserved for ICT leaders whose contributions demonstrate exceptional innovation, strategic foresight, and measurable impact.

Upon receiving the good news, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Mugendi, congratulated Mr. Murimi for the exemplary achievement, noting that the award places the University of Embu among the top-tier digital leaders in the region, thereby enhancing the University’s visibility, credibility, and reputation as a forward-looking, technology-driven institution. “The recognition is not only a testament to Mr. Murimi’s exemplary leadership of the ICT function at the University of Embu, but also an affirmation of the significant progress the University has made in strengthening its digital infrastructure and capabilities,” the VC said, “This award not only reflects personal dedication and professional excellence on the part of the Head of ICT, but also serves as an inspiration to colleagues across the institution,” the VC added. The University also received a Certificate of Recognition on achievement of the Ivory Mark of Excellence for its Enterprise Information Technology Adoption.
